The Monday Night'er- The Pats and Cinci

The Pats are favoured by 7 1/2 and this should be an easy cover for the Brady bunch. The Pats are on a roll right now, averaging 38 points per game while allowing less than 12 on average.

But, as yesterday would tell you, anything can happen in this league. So, you already know why NE should win:
  • Tom Brady. A great QB before, now he finally has a stable of very good WR's.
  • The "D". It seems that the signing of Adalius Thomas has brought out the best in Rosey Colvin and Mike Vrabel. How good will this unit be when Rodney Harrison and Richard Seymour return?
  • Carson Palmer. With no Rudi Johnson and his own lack of mobility, Palmer could feel like Donovan tonight and spend a lot of time on his back.
  • The Bengals "D". This unit gave up 51 points to the Browns. In addition, if not for the Ravens turnover problems opening weekend, this team would be 0-3.

Now, I will try to convince you of how the Bengals may win tonight:

  1. The O-line is able to step up and protect Palmer consistently. This is key due to Palmer's immobility.
  2. Kenny Watson has a "Timmy Smith" night on MNF. If Watson steps up in Johnson's absence, my first point would be much more easily accomplished.
  3. Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh both have huge nights. Both players should be motivated after losing to the Pats 38-13 last October, and.....
  4. Tom Brady has an off night. Each year Brady seems to have one stinker. If this is the game, Cinci could pull it out.

BUT,

As I see it, the Pats will not score 38 points tonight. They will win 35-17 as the running game, led by Sammy Morris tonight, takes over in the second half and keeps the Patriot train rolling.

Enjoy the game!!
